Sahajo Bai (सहजो बाई जी ) was a devout girl from Rajputana, India. She become a disciple of Sant Charandas ji Maharaj. The story of how she came to the path of devotion is quite interesting and inspiring.
Her wedding ceremony had just concluded, and preparations were underway to send her off to her in-laws’ house. Her hair was being done, and she was being meticulously dressed and decorated. Her friends were busy applying her makeup.
At that moment, Sant Charandas ji appeared on the scene. As he looked at Sahaj Bai, whose makeup was in progress, he remarked,
“Why are you wasting your time with all this makeup? You are already beautiful on the inside. You don’t need to paint a mask on your face.”
Sahajo Bai was taken aback by Sant Charandas ji’s words. She had never thought of herself as beautiful before, but his words made her realize that she was indeed beautiful, both inside and out.
From that day on, Sahaj Bai dedicated herself to the path of devotion. She no longer wore makeup, and she spent her time in prayer and meditation. She eventually became one of Sant Charandas ji’s most beloved disciples.
